The Separate Benefit Category Steering Committee (SBC) is pleased to announce the reintroduction of H.R. 942, “The Ensuring Access to Quality to Complex Rehabilitation Technology Act of 2013.” This bipartisan legislation was introduced on March 5th, 2013 and is sponsored by Congressman Joe Crowley (D-NY) and Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI).
What does this means for the rehab industry? H.R. 942 creates a separate benefit category for Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) within Medicare. A separate benefit category for CRT will help ensure beneficiaries have sufficient access to specialized mobility products and ensure their medical conditions and needs are being met.
H.R. 942 is a follow up to the original legislation from 2012, which was introduced by Congressman Crowley and finished with 38 co-sponsors. Complex Rehab Technology stakeholders have a tremendous opportunity to build on the progress our industry made in 2012 and continue our outreach to members of congress on this important legislation for Medicare beneficiaries.
