Complex Manual and Power Wheelchair Repair Documentation Help!

We have been tasked to gather information for CMS to validate the need for escalating the payment errors received for repairs/replacement on complex rehab chairs since competitive bid.

We need sample claims/remittance notices, that would help CMS pinpoint which edits may not be working and to design fixes that do not have to be fixed again later because CMS missed a certain billing scenario.List of typical repairs that are needed for CRT items and what repair services are being affected by the edits.  Since complex rehab items are assumed to be new when they are furnished to the patient on a lump sum purchase basis, CMS would like to better understand what typically needs to be repaired/replaced during the 5 year lifetime and why.

 

We need the claim/remittance reports on your top repair/replacement items on any:

  • Complex power bases Group 2 single or multi power bases
  • Group 3 power wheelchairs
  • Manual complex bases – K0005 and E1161

We need these reports by end of business Wednesday,February 5, 2014.
